One of my good customers who is getting back into soaring big time (and has purchased ALL of my films for inspiration) just got a nice barely used Icon 2 and brought it by the shop for a 'PN' tune-up and pre-flight set up. We did a F3J program on his new JR 9503, reset the CG and tow hook, installed a new 2.4 receiver, and did a quick decalage/zero trim check with my iPhone.
After a good range check I did a hand toss and quickly put an ounce on the tail to get the CG back a few mm's. Did a few flights via high start to get the tuning dialed, then did some winch launches. The Icon 2 is such a nice big power-house thermal flyer, so easy to fly and land. Still needs a few programming tweeks with the slider to camber mix and a better receiver install to get the antenna angles optimized.
Jeff has the new Maple Leaf Royale F3J plane on order and it looks like I will be doing a build video of this new plane latter this summer.

Great to see previous pilots re-discovering the beauty and challenges of sail soaring.
I am also in the process of re-discovery. The challenges of new wing types inherent of strength and beauty but with the ability to feel the air as was not known before.
I am also one who has taken the opportunity to download the collection of marvellous videos that have made my re-entering the sport / fascination a great ride.
Best of luck
